Dr. Carolien Metselaar
Carolien Metselaar (1963) is the acting Secretary of Tilburg University since October, 2022.
The secretary has a special responsibility in preparing and implementing decisions made by the Executive Board, in constant consultation with the Deans, Schools, Divisions to optimally equip our students and staff for their important work in research, education, and society.
In addition to Carolien Metselaar’s primary task as Secretary, she will be responsible, as the acting Managing Director of University Services, to foster, coordinate, and safeguard the collaboration among the Divisions on key policy themes and business operations.

Study and former principal functions
Prior to this role, Carolien Metselaar served as the secretary of the Executive Board, general director, and secretary of the Supervisory Board at Leiden University. Previously, she held the positions of secretary of the Executive Board and director of board affairs at the Vrije Universiteit. Carolien Metselaar also has extensive work experience with the Municipality of Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam.
