Wall of Fame Student Athletes
Tilburg University is very proud of its excelling students and provides facilities for student athletes to enable them to combine their academic and athletic careers.
Tilburg University honors those who excel in combining these two careers on the Wall of Fame at the Sport Center.
Every year, a maximum of three student athletes are selected to be inducted into the Wall of Fame at the Sport Center. This includes student athletes of Tilburg University, Avans, and Fontys Tilburg.
Requirement for being selected for the Wall of Fame:
- Studying at one of the three mentioned institutions
- Having significant academic progress
- Having received a Top Sports Status at the concerning institute
- Becoming National Champion, or Finishing in top-3 at European or World Championship, or competing at Olympic Game
- If more than three student athletes meet the requirements, a committee will select the final 3 inductees.
- Sport coaches and officials with a Top Sports/Talent status with comparable achievements to student athletes.
Bachelor’s student of Organization Studies at Tilburg University
Jordens was the captain of the Dutch football club Willem II for many years. In addition, Jordens achieved a lot of success with Willem II, for example, the promotion to the Dutch Premier League in 2013-2014 and the final of the Dutch Cup in 2018-2019.
Bachelor’s student of Law at Tilburg University
Pepijn is a successful open water swimmer. He ended up on the podium three times in European championships and won a bronze medal in a World Cup event. In 2018, he became European champion in the five-kilometer mixed team event.
Bachelor’s student of Business Economics at Tilburg University
Frank is a great gymnast. He is a thirteen-time Dutch Junior National Champion in different gymnastics events. Furthermore, he participated in the Olympic Games of 2016 and finished 10th in the team all-around.
Jackie has won the European Women’s Championship soccer with the Dutch National team in 2017. Jackie was a major part of the Dutch Lionesses with her incredible work ethic and decisive passes at midfield position. In 2018 Jackie and the rest of the team made great stides to qualify for the World Cup in 2019.
Danielle van de Donk & Maartje Krekelaars
Next to Jackie, 2 Fontys students have been added to the Wall of Fame. Danielle van de Donk was also part of the Dutch National Women’s soccer team that won the European Championship in 2017. Maartje Krekelaast is part of the Dutch National Women’s Hockey team that won the gold medal at the World Hockey League. And with her clubteam HC Den Bosch she won several National titles.
Master of Operations Research and Management Science
Amber won the World Championship title at the World Championships Under 23 in the summer of 2016. She finished in the top of the leader board in the Women’s Double Two.
Bachelor of International Business Administration
Shona won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio with the British Women’s Fieldhockey team, beating team The Netherlands after shootouts.
Bachelor & Master of Fiscal Economics at Tilburg University
Marcel won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London with the Dutch National Fieldhockey team. He has 109 caps and won the European Championship for clubteams in 2015.
Bachelor & Master of Communication and Information Sciences at Tilburg University
Tommy reached the quarterfinals of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. And won several medals at European and World Championships in Taekwondo. Also, Tommy got voted Tilburg Sportman of the Year several times.
Economics at Tilburg University
Dogus became National Rowing Champion in Turkey in 2015.
International Business Administration at Tilburg University
Laura won the bronze medal with the Dutch National Female Hockey team at the Champions Trophy in Argentina in January of 2015.
Master Finance at Tilburg University
Maarten won the Dutch National Championship with his team Tilburg Trappers in 2014-2015 (and 2013-2014).
Pre-Master Marketing at Tilburg University
Shanne won the Silver medal at the World Championships Track Cycling (Keirin) in Paris in 2014.
