Katrijn Van Deun awarded prestigious NWO Vici grant to develop new data science methods
29th February 2024Professor Dr. Katrijn Van Deun, professor of ‘Data Science for the Social and Behavioral Sciences’ at Tilburg University, has been awarded a Vici grant of 1.5 million euros from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). With this subsidy, she aims to develop research methods that can contribute to complex developments in the field of data within our society. Katrijn Van Deun joins the ranks of 35 scientists across the Netherlands who will be receiving a Vici grant today.

Prinsjesdag 2023: Professors advise ministers for a fairer society through more government regulations
18th September 2023Despite the fact that on Prinsjesdag 2023 a caretaker government will present its last budget and, moreover, disappear in November after the elections, a number of Tilburg University scholars present the current and future members of the government with their advice based on their expertise. They do so in the areas of housing, poverty, labor market and care, arguing for more direction and measures from the government.

Tilburg University and the City of Tilburg develop joint broad prosperity research program
11th July 2023On July 11, 2023, Tilburg University and the City of Tilburg have adopted a roadmap for a co-creative research program in the field of broad prosperity in the local communities and broad prosperity in business. This research program is part of the agreement between the City and the university to take cooperation to an even higher level. For instance, the parties contribute to Tilburg Kennisstad and to the movement to help the city-with-a-university develop into a proper university city.

Highest award in Dutch scientific community granted to Prof. Corien Prins
07th June 2023Professor of Law and Informatization Corien Prins of Tilburg University, the Dutch Research Council (NWO) today announced, is to receive the Stevin Prize, the highest science award in the Netherlands, for her contributions to both the development of law and information technology and to policymaking in this area.

Professor Emely de Vet new Dean University College Tilburg
11th May 2023The Executive Board has appointed Emely de Vet as Professor and Dean of University College Tilburg (UCT) within the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences, as of Aug. 15. She succeeds Dean Alkeline van Lenning, who will retire this summer. De Vet will be in charge of the overall leadership and further development of UCT.

Zero Hunger Lab and Kickstart AI join in deploying AI to increase food security

Student investment fund gets 400k from BOM and Brabant educational institutions
04th April 2023The Brabant Development Agency (BOM), Eindhoven University of Technology and Tilburg University (on behalf of Starterslift Investments fund) announced yesterday that they are investing 400,000 euros in the Round One Ventures student fund that funds student start-ups in the province of North Brabant.

Jörg Raab and Tine Buyl appointed as professors in the Department of Organization Studies
31st March 2023The Executive Board of Tilburg University has appointed two new professors in the Department of Organization Studies at the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Jörg Raab will hold the chair of Inter-Organizational Networks and Tine Buyl will become Professor of Strategy, Strategic Leadership and Organizational Resilience. Raab will also become the new chair of the department.

Yael Diamant appointed as Professor of Financial Networks and European Property Law

Honorary doctorate for Mariëtte Hamer at 95th Dies natalis
10th October 2022Tilburg University’s Dies natalis will be celebrated on Thursday, November 17, at 16:00 hrs. This year is special: the university celebrates its 95th anniversary. During the Dies celebration, an honorary doctorate will be presented to Mariëtte Iris Hamer, Government Commissioner on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence, and former president of the Dutch Social and Economic Council (SER), by honorary supervisor Professor Ton Wilthagen for her contribution to social-economic policy.

Start construction Marga Klompé Building on Tilburg University campus
15th July 2022On July 15, 2022, the first foundation pile went into the ground for the new educational building at Tilburg University, the Marga Klompé Building. The building, with independent study places, fourteen lecture halls, and a foyer will be constructed on the site of the former parking lot between Tias building and CUBE.

Tilburg University partner in Gravitation research program 'The Algorithmic Society’
02nd May 2022Minister Robbert Dijkgraaf of Education, Culture and Science has awarded 21.3 million euros under NWO's Gravitation program to the project 'The Algorithmic Society' of a consortium of five universities led by the University of Amsterdam. Tilburg Law School is a co-applicant and bears responsibility for one of the three areas of research in the project, the judiciary.

Social responsibility central theme of winners Tilburg University Challenge 2021
10th December 2021The Tilburg University Challenge 2021 has awarded all three prizes for the best business plan proposed by student teams to socially responsible ideas. During a livestream event on December 9th the Ideation Award went to Anouk van Anrooij and Daniel Gelsing for their healthy and fruity drink that is also sustainable. The Business Ready Award and the Audience Award went to Freek van Litsenburg, who, with Bigger Picture Clothing, sells clothing that is both sustainable in production and has a large social impact.

New science program at Tilburg University: De Tafel van Martinus
