Master's Graduation Checklist

Are you a Master's student and thinking of graduating soon? Check that you are in the completion phase of your Master's degree and follow the required steps in this graduation requirements checklist.

Checking your study program

From the moment all your required courses are credited in OSIRIS, and your thesis is in the stage of completion, then you can apply for the diploma digitally through OSIRIS. Before you apply for the master's degree, you should first check whether all the results you have obtained are registered in Osiris. If you have obtained your last result, but your grade has not yet been credited, do submit a de-enrollment request through Studielink before the end of the month.

De-enrollment via Studielink

After graduation it is important to de-enrollment from your studies in time. As soon as you know you have graduated, you can de-enrollment through Studielink. You can NOT de-enrollment with retroactive effect. Your enrollment will be terminated effective the first full month following the month in which your deregistration request is received through Studielink. In Studielink, press the "Unsubscribe" button. You will then be taken to the "Submit de-enrollment request" form. Indicate the reason for your de-enrollment "Graduation" and enter the month as of which you no longer wish to be enrolled.

Statement of deregistration

If you need a statement of de-enrollment, you can apply for it once your de-enrollment is complete and you have received a confirmation of this through Studielink. Apply for a statement of de-enrollment through the Internet.

Request Diploma

This is the day you have been working towards for years. Time to apply for your diploma.

If you are graduating from a master's program, you can apply for your degree here.

  • Master's degree with joint awarding
  • Master degree application with presentation during defense
  • Pick up your diploma at the Student Desk

Your request will only be processed if you have fulfilled all the grades related to graduation.

Pick up your diploma at the Student Desk

Should you choose the option of picking up your diploma at the Student Desk, please keep in mind that at least 3 to 4 weeks are needed to process your request and make graduation arrangements. You will receive an e-mail from the Student Administration as soon as your diploma is ready at the Student Desk. You can pick up your diploma during the opening hours of the Student Desk You do not need to make a separate appointment for this.

If you are unable to pick up your diploma in person, you can also authorize someone to pick it up for you.

Cancelling study financing and OV Chipkaart

After you have de-enrolled from Studielink you will be automatically refunded any overpaid tuition fees. How much you will get back obviously depends on how much you have already paid. If you have paid the full amount you will get 1/12 back for every month you are no longer enrolled. If you pay in installments then the university will stop the write-offs (provided the full amount has already been paid) and you will be refunded the overpayment, if applicable.

If your disenrollment date is July 1 or August 1, no refund will be issued. In that case, you may choose to remain enrolled in this program. The advantage is that, as long as you are enrolled, you retain all your rights as a student, such as the right to a public transport chipcard. From mid-June you can indicate that you do not wish to re-enroll for the new academic year (=1 September). You also do this in Studielink though the button 'do not re-enroll'.

You will receive a confirmation of your de-enrollment request from Studielink.

Please note: Do not forget to cancel any study grants, loans and student public transport chipcards with DUO no later than the date on which you de-enrollment.

Remove important e-mails from University e-mail

Note: After you have de-enroll demand you are not enrolled in another program, you will still be able to access your university e-mail 30 calendar days after you de-enrollment. After 30 calendar days, you can no longer access your university e-mail. So make sure, that you remove all your important mail from your university e-mail address in time.

Name registered in BRP

The name registered in the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) is the name mentioned on your diploma. Even if you have changed your call sign in Studielink.
