How to register for courses?

You need to register for courses via OSIRIS Student.

Points of attention for registration

  • Once you are in possession of your login details, you may register for courses and exams (even if your University enrollment is not yet entirely completed).
  • Before registering, check your calendar in MyTimetable (MTT) and choose the student set number*) from the calendar that suits you best.

Students TiSEM

  • Select in MyTimetable the program, year, and student set that is specified in the overview for an advisory timetable;
  • If there is a choice of several student sets: select only one!
  • The last number of the ZZ-group corresponds with the group preference in Osiris-Student.
  • For some programs, you have to select a student set for compulsory courses and a set for optional courses: see overview

Students TLS

  • Select in MyTimetable the program, year, and student set that is specified in the overview for an advisory schedule;
  • If there is a choice of several student sets: select only one!
  • The last number of the ZZ-group corresponds with the group preference in Osiris-Student.
  • For some programs, registration is restricted: see overview

Students TST

There is just one student set available.

Students TSHD

  • Select your program and year In MyTimetable ;
  • Choose a ZZ group for all the activities you want to participate in AND that fit into your time table. The most common activities are:
    HC: Lecture
    WC: Tutorial
    LA: Practicum
  • The number at the end of the ZZ group in the time table corresponds to the preferred group that you must choose in OSIRIS-Student;
  • After you have determined your schedule, you can register in OSIRIS.

Students TSB

  • Select your program and year in MyTimetable;
  • Choose a ZZ group for all the activities you want to participate in AND that fit into your time table.
  • In some subjects you have to choose the group of a specific field of study; e.g. 424503_PEW 3, ZZ / 424503-B-5 / WC / 1/006. This working group is for students of the Personnel Studies program. In Osiris this working group is 6.
  • The number at the end of the ZZ group in the time table corresponds to the preferred group that you must choose in OSIRIS-Student;
  • After you have determined your schedule, you can register in OSIRIS.

*) A student set is a number (e.g. 2BE-01) with which the schedulers compose a timetable for a group of students. With this number, students can look up which timetable they prefer. Students can then use this number to register for the right work group or practical in OSIRIS Student.

How to register for language courses?

Enrollment OSIRIS Student

Registration procedure Language course with vouchers

  • Start of registration for language courses: January 12, 2022, 11:00 hrs.
  • Registration is possible until: January 27, 2022, 23:58 hrs.
  • Deregistration is possible until: January 27, 2022, 23:59 hrs.

Registering for a language course is largely done in the same way as registering for other university courses. To help you, we have developed a step-by-step plan and an instruction video.

There are a few points to consider when registering for a language course:

Language Courses

Make sure that the time at which the language course is given does not overlap with the other courses you have to follow. This is done as follows:

  • In MyTimetable (MTT), select your study/examination program and the desired language course (week or day view is the most convenient).
  • In OSIRIS Student, register for the desired language course and the group in which there is a place.
  • After registering for your own study/examination program or in the event of timetable changes, check again that the language course still fits in your timetable. If not, you can deregister from the language course until August 26, 2021, 23:59 hrs and see if there are still places available in another group that fits into your timetable.

Waiting list

Sign up for the waiting list (only via OSIRIS Student).

  • Isn’t there a place available in any of the groups? Then choose a group for which you want to be added to the waiting list. You can only sign up for one group on the waiting list. You will immediately see your position on the waiting list. No vouchers will be debited yet.
  • You will receive an e-mail informing you that you have been placed on the waiting list.
  • If a place becomes available you will receive a notification that you can register within a determined period of time for the course and group for which you were on the waiting list. The vouchers are debited.

If you have no or insufficient vouchers, you can read how to register here.

Frequently Asked Questions about Osiris

Can I register via OSIRIS Student and the OSIRIS App?

Yes. The only thing in the app you cannot see is the translation of the student set number to the correct work group in OSIRIS. We therefore recommend that you register via OSIRIS Student.

You can download the OSIRIS App in the Play Store or App Store. Search for 'OSIRIS Tilburg University'.

Are there differences between OSIRIS Student and the OSIRIS App?

There are three differences:

  • The extra information for the course, including the translation of the student set number to the correct work group, is visible in OSIRIS Student and not in the app.
  • Documents (such as a confirmation of your registration) are currently visible in OSIRIS Student and not in the app.
  • Your examination call is only visible in the app and not in OSIRIS Student.

Otherwise, the two are exactly the same.

How do I make sure that I register for a timetable without overlapping courses?

TiSEM and TLS guarantee students a timetable without overlapping courses. Students must then choose the same student set number for all courses in their examination program.

Administrative mistake?

Due to an administrative mistake, some courses have open for enrollment in OSIRIS Student. Enrollment is no longer possible. Enrolled students will be informed separately about the further procedure. All student will receive information on short notice about when and how to enroll for tests

What is a student set number?

This is a number (e.g. 2BE-01) that the schedulers use to make the timetable. Using this number you can use MyTimetable to find out which timetable you prefer. In OSIRIS Student, look up (under the “i” in course information) which group belongs to the student set number. Then register via OSIRIS Student for the correct work group, practical, or other instructional format.

First-year Bachelor’s students are assigned a student set number (see under Personalia/My details in OSIRIS Student and the app).

What should I do if a course is full?

Then choose a different student set number for that course in MyTimetable (MTT) and register for it. The number of enrollments on groups will be checked on a regular basis and if possible and necessary, groups will be added or enlarged. Please check MyTimetable and OSIRIS Student if groups are added or enlarged.

I want to register for courses of different Schools, is that still possible?

Yes, that is possible. In the overview with the dates on which the registration periods for courses start, you can see when and for which School the registration for the courses starts.

When I see my courses in my timetable (in MyTimetable or in the OSIRIS App), does that mean that I have registered?

Not necessarily so. Registration really takes place via OSIRIS. Under “overview of registrations,” you can see exactly which courses you are registered for.

Do I have to register separately for all courses?

Yes, you will be registered immediately for all instructional formats (such as lectures, work groups/seminars, and practicals) with the exception of the written examination.

I get an error message when I try to register for a course.

Please check your university e-mail. Here you will find more information about the reason for the rejection and what you can do.

When enrolling in a course, I get the message, this course module is not included in the fixed part of your exam program?

This is warning that the credits for this course will not automatically count towards your degree. You can ignore this message and still enroll.

Do I still need to enroll in Canvas?

No, if you are registered for a course in OSIRIS, the registration will automatically be passed on to Canvas. Canvas will continue to provide you with all the information you need while attending your courses, such as assignments and course materials. Lecturers will also continue to publish messages via Canvas.
