Daniel Levinthal (Stanford, 1957) studied economics at Harvard University and received his PhD in Economics Business and Public Policy in 1985 from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Levinthal holds the Reginald H. Jones professorship of Corporate Strategy at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He has published a large number of articles and books on issues of organizations, industrial evolution, especially in light of technological change. He is a fellow of the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business. He has received several awards and honorary doctorates, both in America and in Europe.
