Prof. dr. H.W. (Henk) Lambers

Hendrik Willem Lambers (Rotterdam, 1916–2004) was a Dutch economist, Professor of General Economics at the Netherlands Economische Hogeschool in Rotterdam, and four times Rector Magnificus there.

Lambers was born and raised in Rotterdam. He began his economics studies at the then Nederlandsche Handels-Hoogeschool in 1935, where he studied under Professor Frans de Vries (also a Tilburg University honorary doctor).

In 1946, he became a lecturer at his alma mater, and in 1947 a Professor of Economics. He remained so until he was granted emeritus status in 1981. Lambers was also director of the Nederlands Economisch Instituut for several years, relinquishing it in 1982. He was closely involved in the creation of the EUR in 1973, when the NEH and the Medische Faculteit Rotterdam merged.
